Overzicht

Calendula (Calendula officinalis) is een plant die bekend staat als pot goudsbloem. Het is niet dezelfde als de sierbloemen van het geslacht Tagetes die in moestuinen worden geteeld. Calendula komt oorspronkelijk uit Azië en Zuid-Europa en wordt traditioneel gebruikt in de Ayurvedische en Unani-geneeskunde. De chemische stoffen in calendula kunnen helpen bij het groeien van nieuw weefsel in wonden en het verminderen van zwellingen in de mond en keel. Calendula bloem wordt vaak gebruikt voor wonden, huiduitslag, infecties, ontstekingen en vele andere aandoeningen. Maar er is geen sterk bewijs voor het gebruik van calendula voor welk doel dan ook.

Zwangerschap

: Neem geen calendula via de mond als u zwanger bent. Het is waarschijnlijk niet veilig. Men vreest dat het een miskraam kan veroorzaken. Het beste is om ook topisch gebruik te vermijden totdat er meer bekend is.

Borstvoeding

: Er is niet genoeg betrouwbare informatie om te weten of calendula veilig is om te gebruiken bij borstvoeding. Blijf aan de veilige kant en vermijd het gebruik.

Allergie voor ambrosia en aanverwante planten

: Calendula kan een allergische reactie veroorzaken bij mensen die gevoelig zijn voor de familie van de Asteraceae/Compositae. Leden van deze familie zijn ragweed, chrysanten, goudsbloemen, madeliefjes en vele andere. Als u allergieën heeft, moet u uw arts raadplegen voordat u calendula inneemt.

Wees voorzichtig met deze combinatie

• Sederende medicijnen (CNS-depressiva) hebben interactie met CALENDULA

  Calendula kan slaperigheid en een vertraagde ademhaling veroorzaken. Sommige medicijnen, kalmeringsmiddelen genoemd, kunnen ook slaperigheid en een vertraagde ademhaling veroorzaken. Het nemen van calendula met kalmerende medicijnen kan ademhalingsproblemen en/of te veel slaperigheid veroorzaken.

Dosering

Er is niet genoeg betrouwbare informatie om te weten wat een geschikte dosis calendula zou kunnen zijn. Bedenk dat natuurlijke producten niet altijd per definitie veilig zijn en dat doseringen belangrijk kunnen zijn.
